Yona Of the Dawn (Akatsuki no Yona)

Rating: 8.5/10

Episodes: 24

Source: Manga

Genres: Historical, Adventure, Romance, Shoujou

Premiered: Fall 2014

Princess Yona lives a life of luxury and ease, completely sheltered from the problems of the seemingly peaceful Kingdom of Kouka; however, the sudden murder of the king and betrayal of her beloved cousin Su-won places Yona’s life in mortal peril. Forced to escape only with Son Hak, who is both her childhood friend and bodyguard, the naïve princess soon discovers that Kouka is not the idyllic place she envisioned it to be. Poverty, strife, and corruption run rampant, making reclaiming the throne nothing more than a wishful fantasy given the kingdom’s current state.

Based on the popular manga of the same name by Mizuho Kusanagi, Akatsuki no Yona follows Princess Yona on a coming-of-age adventure as she faces the harsh realities of her kingdom. With only a mysterious legend to guide her, Yona must discover a way to restore Kouka to its former glory while being pursued relentlessly by the forces of the new King of Kouka.

[Written by MAL Rewrite]

Atatsuki no Yona premiered in the fall of 2014 and was bought to us by Studio Pierrot, these studios gave us anime’s such as Tokyo Ghoul, Naruto and Black Clover.

Once once a time, 2,000 years ago, the Kingdom of Kouka was founded and ruled by Hiryuu, a red dragon who descended from the heavens and transformed into a human. Four soldiers infused with dragon blood from the Gods stood by his side, assisting him in leading the country to prosperity. With the passage of time, this myth became a legend to be told to children.

The kingdom had no male successors 2,000 years later, only a single princess named Yona who enjoyed a life of luxury. She had everything she ever desired and was hidden from the horrible reality outside the castle walls because she was in love with her cousin, Soo-Won, and was protected by her bodyguard, Son Hak. In contrast to this idyllic image, Kouka was subjected to political turmoil from within the country. Yona was forced to flee with just Hak by her side after her beloved Su-won conducted a bloody coup and murdered her father, and she began to live a life on the run.

Despite being encircled on all sides by enemies, the exiled princess still wishes to live and preserve her realm. Her solution comes from an exiled priest, who tells her that finding the four legendary dragon warriors is her only hope. Yona sets out to find these warriors, determined to battle for the throne and restore the kingdom, while meeting new friends and allies along the road, guided by this seemingly imaginary narrative.

Yona is the crowned princess of the Kokua Kingdom, she has an adaptive and a pleasant personality as well as a strong sense of conviction. Throughout her journey, she demonstrates an unwavering eagerness to learn and maintains her optimistic outlook even in the face of adversity. She was initially self-centered and demanding of others, as Yoon reprimands her for not thanking him for looking after Hak. Through her travels, she finally learns to appreciate others. Yona has a positive view on life despite her traumatic past and chooses to serve others in need. She grows more mature and self-assured as she travels. During her trip, she begins to overcome her fears, realizing what is most important in life.

Son Hak is the former General of the wind clan and is the adopted grandson of the previous general Mundok, Hak grew up along side Suu-won and Yona as Yona’s bodyguard. Hak was willing to risk his life for Yona and in the future Suu-won if they ever got married, this quickly changed when Suu-won betrayed everyone’s trust and Hak and Yona had to go on the run.

Hak is a witty, straightforward young guy who will go to any length to protect Yona. When it comes to her well-being, he is both physically and emotionally self-sacrificing, as well as very loyal to people he respects and obeys. Hak has also been revealed to have a mischievous side, frequently tormenting Yona and the rest of his group, as well as “having a habit” of being a bully who enjoys mockingly nicknaming some of their other comrades, such as “White Snake” (Kija) and “Droopy Eyes” (Jae-Ha)

Soo-Won is the son of the deceased General Yu-Hon and Lady Yong-Hi, the older cousin of Princess Yona, and the childhood friend of Hak. He is a difficult character to understand. Most of the time, he has a peaceful and cheery personality. He had tremendous emotional strength and maturity, and unlike other people in the room, He has the ability to adapt to any scenario. He is gentle and loving to those he likes. Soo-Won, on the other hand, is a calculated individual. He has a good sense of observation, which aids him in deciphering people’s true intentions. If it suited his purposes, he will act naive and carefree. This is a genuine aspect of his character, but it’s also a strategy he uses to make his opponents underestimate him and redirect their attention away from him.

Despite all of the good qualities to pursue his goals, he was willing to take himself away from Hak and Yona and destroy their relationships. Not much is known about him in the anime as there is still so much we don’t know about him as a character.

Jae-Ha is the current Ryokuryuu (English: Green Dragon), one of the four Dragon Warriors who possesses the green dragon deity’s blood. His strength comes from his right leg, which allows him to fly by jumping high and over vast distances.

Jae-Ha is a carefree, vain, bold, confident, persistent, flamboyant, womanizer, and observant man who takes care in his appearance and appreciates the finer things in life. To the irritation of some of his companions, he has a tendency to rush after whatever he considers to be lovely and to openly demonstrate his masochistic nature when someone hurts him lightly. Despite his pranks, he despises being pursued and craves freedom above all else.

Jae-ha is probably my favorite out of the four dragons

Kija is the current Hakuryuu (White Dragon in English), one of the four Dragon Warriors who carries the white dragon deity’s blood. His right arm is the source of his strength. Kija was the guardian and tribal leader, having been born and nurtured in a village deep in the woods and carrying the White Dragon’s genes. His village has taught him to serve and be entirely obedient to the next reincarnation of King Hiryuu, who is claimed to be his master, since he was born.

Kija has a forceful, straightforward, and polite demeanour, which is mostly attributable to his upbringing. He values the power he wields, the other dragon warriors, and Yona, whom he perceives to be King Hiryuu’s return, as he has always known about the legend of the dragon deities and his place within it; he also strongly believes that those who are the dragon deities should fulfil their duties no matter what. As a result, he can be irritated by those who do not share his reverence, and he frequently chastises members of his squad (particularly the dragon warriors) for being immature or disregarding their positions.

Shin-Ah is the current Seiryuu (Blue Dragon in English), one of the four Dragon Warriors who possesses the blue dragon deity’s blood. His strength resides in his eyes, which he can utilise to produce hallucinations and paralyse his opponent.

He has almost no social skills due to his upbringing in utter seclusion. He is extremely silent and rarely talks, instead responding to questions with nods and motions or blank, awkward stares. As a result, he is frequently misconstrued by others, who believe he is suspicious and even frightening. His disposition, on the other hand, is incredibly compassionate and sympathetic, especially toward others in his community who despise and dread him. He adores Yona and the rest of the gang, and he has a special affinity with a squirrel named Ao. He also despises the cold.

Yoon is the first person to join Hak and Yona on their journey to find the four dragon warriors, He is the self-proclaimed “beautiful boy genius” caretaker of High Priest Ik-Soo, and the one who helps Yona and Hak recover after they are hurt after feeling the fire clan.

Yoon is a kind, compassionate, intellectual, nonviolent, and skilled young man who takes great delight in his intellect and appearance. He throws comments at everyone from time to time, observing how the gang can be raucous despite their need to maintain a low profile. He is easily brought to tears, despite his caustic tongue, and sincerely cares for everyone’s well-being.

Yoon learned to be self-sufficient and resourceful at a young age in order to survive.

Voice acting

Funimation took the dub for Yona of the dawn and I must say, whoever directed the dub did a fabulous job in picking the voice actors as they fit their roles perfectly, I felt every ounce of emotion that came off every single character especially the two main characters Yona and Hawk voiced by Monica Rial and Christopher sabat.

My opinion

Since being in Self Isolation I have had more time to read into things than I would usually, I re-watched this series within a day which can be very easy if you really enjoy watching something.

Lately I have been obsessed with history, folk lore and myths, I recently finished watching a TV show called Kung Fu which was absoutley amazing! and it was nice to learn a bit more about Chinese history and culture. I was so shocked to hear that Yona of the Dawn is set in the korean past and not Japanese but It made sense because the character designs looked nothing like the Japanese era.

I’ve made it apparent that I’m not a big fan of Shojou anime, but there was something about Yona of the Dawn that made me not hate it. In 24 episodes, a lot happens as the main characters Yona and Hak search for the four dragons; it’s a well-crafted plot, but there’s a flaw that earns the anime an 8.5 out of 10 rating.

Searching for the four dragons took up most of the series! Like when it got the end of the season you ask yourself, “That was it?”

I guess that does make you want to go out and read the manga but they just left it on the cliffhanger, what do they do next now that the four dragons as assembled?

I would suggest you go and watch the anime to find that answer yourself, and I will now be defiantly be starting the manga where the anime left of.

Terror in Resonance (Zankyou no Terror)

Rating: 10/10

Episodes: 12

Source: Original

Genres: Mystery, Psycholgical, Thrillar

Premiered: Summer 2014

Just a year ago Terror in resonance was my favorite anime of all time, It has now been replaced but in honor of my previous number 1.

I give you my opinion of one of favorite anime’s of all time.

Painted in red, the word “VON” is all that is left behind after a terrorist attack on a nuclear facility in Japan. The government is shattered by their inability to act, and the police are left frantically searching for ways to crack down the perpetrators. The public are clueless—until, six months later, a strange video makes its way onto the internet. In it, two teenage boys who identify themselves only as “Sphinx” directly challenge the police, threatening to cause destruction and mayhem across Tokyo. Unable to stop the mass panic quickly spreading through the city and desperate for any leads in their investigation, the police struggle to act effectively against these terrorists, with Detective Kenjirou Shibazaki caught in the middle of it all.

Zankyou no Terror tells the story of Nine and Twelve, the two boys behind the masked figures of Sphinx. They should not exist, yet they stand strong in a world of deception and secrets while they make the city fall around them, all in the hopes of burying their own tragic truth.

[Written by MAL Rewrite]

Zankyou no Terror came out in Summer 2014 and was given to us by MAPPA Studios who recently gave us anime such as Jujutsu Kaisen and Dorohedoro.

The words “VON” are scrawled in red on the floor of a Japanese warehouse storing a lethal weapon, causing the Japanese cabinet and police to go insane.

Six months later, when two boys calling themselves “Sphinx” defy the police, threatening to inflict havoc and mayhem across Tokyo, the authorities resort to the internet

The police struggle to act effectively against these terrorists, unable to stop the rapid spread of panic throughout the city and eager for any clues in their investigation, with Detective Kenjirou Shibazaki caught in the heart of it all.

The plot follows two boys named Nine and Twelve, who go by the codename Sphinx, but you soon understand they’re not actual terrorists who are only uncovering their horrific past.

Everyone watches anime for the story and plot, but what really drew me in was Yoko Kanno’s soundtrack throughout the entire anime.

Every time I search for the soundtrack online I can never find it at least I have it saved it on my mobile phone. Most of the OST for Zankyou No Terror puts me to sleep, which is ironic given the tragic and action-packed nature of the anime.

Most of the OST Is played on a piano which I love even more as it gives the anime a soft side to the devastating story that lies behind the plot you are seeing on screen.

My favorite songs have to be Walt, Seele, Von and Fugl.

As the show suggests Nine and Twelve are the main characters of this show, each boy is not like the other, they see things differently in what happened to them but they stay together until the end and we realize they weren’t so different after all.

Nine is the taller boy with black hair and seems to be the calmest out of the two, you see him more behind the scenes than out in the open like his partner in crime. Nine has a stern, aloof, and austere demeanor.
With his outstanding computing and hacking skills, he has a propensity for concocting creative criminal schemes while neatly hiding his tracks.

On the surface twelve, he appears to be a typical jokester, light-hearted and active, and fond of meddling in other people’s affairs.
He is, however, capable and prepared to use cruel and violent means if the occasion demanded it, and it was safe to presume that his stint at the aforementioned children’s institution had left him psychologically scarred.
Despite this, he is dependable and loyal, possessed a high sense of social intuition, was on brotherly terms with Nine, and had demonstrated countless compassionate acts towards Lisa Mishima.

Lisa is that one character that you say to yourself, were you absoutley necessary?

Lisa is a shy, introverted girl who is easily bullied because of her clumsy actions.
Because of her introversion, she tends to keep her troubles to herself and resents the outside world.
She believes she has a link with the Sphinx couple, and that the three of them are disconnected from the rest of the world.
Despite her initial disappointments and the risky operations she undertakes as a result, she decides to live, demonstrating her strength and perseverance.

Detective Kenjirou Shibazaki is behind the force that drives the Tokyo police as he is the first to realize there the first riddle of there plan, he is then put in charge of the case despite being demoted years before and sent down to archives.

Shibasaki appears to be aloof and lacklustre at first, unwilling to work, but when people’s lives are threatened, he suddenly transforms into a brilliant, quick-witted man capable of solving most problems that emerge.
He is well-versed in his industry and has a strong sense of justice.

because Shibazaki’s past the boys home in on his skills for him to realize there plan. He was probably my favourite character of the whole show.

Five is just like Nine and Twelve but was hired by the US Government FBI years before, she travels to Japan in pursuit of the boys, to me her character wasn’t needed per se but it put pressure on Nine who seemed to have liked her in the past and is out-put when she arrives.

Five is a childishly sadistic character who enjoys torturing others and has a frigid demeanor.
She also enjoys psychological games, as seen by her transformation of an airport into a chess board to “play” with Sphinx.

On a deeper level, though, her acts could indicate that she is a lonely person who longs for human contact, particularly from Nine, whom she appears to have always liked or at least considered as a worthy opponent, owing to her feelings of abandonment by Sphinx.

Voice actors

Funimation took the dub for this anime but when I comb through the sub cast I can defiantly tell it was a very thought out original anime and the voice acting was absoutley fantastic I couldn’t fault it.

Christopher bevins voiced Nine. Christopher much like Robert are the two eldest apart of the main cast but when you heard Chris talk as Nine, you believed he was a 16 year old boy. His voice was strong, Nine is a strong character as he out of the two boys he showed the bigger sense of justice

Aaron Dimuske voiced twelve and I defiantly felt this as a good fit. Aaron has been voice acting since he was young as he voiced Alphonse Elric in the first ever series of Fullmetal Alchemist, he has a sense of humor in his voice which makes the character sound so much more believable.

Jad Saxton voiced Lisa. Now I love Jad as she has a voice that can be really gentle and this is what Lisa’s character needed. Lisa is timid and is probably afraid of her own shadow.

Robert Mccolum voiced Shibazaki. As Shibazaki is my favorite character, Robert was the best fit for him. His deep voice gives him the intimidation a policeman needs (even as a disgraced one), I really enjoyed his scenes and I always feel that Robert puts 110% into the character he’s voicing.

Jamie Marchi voiced Five. The greatest thing about Jamie is that she can have a gentle voice but then she can have a very scary voice and this is what was desperately needed for Five as a character (much like Junko Enoshima from Danganronpa)

My Opinion

When I first saw this anime, I fell in love with it. While some people consider Clannad or Angel Beats to be among the saddest anime series ever, Zankyou no Terror is, in my opinion, the saddest anime I’ve ever seen.

The series begins with a brief introduction to the main characters Nine and Twelve, as well as Lisa and Shibazaki.
As the story unfolds, you begin to believe that Nine and Twelve are the evil guys, but as hypotheses form in your mind, does it make sense to label them terrorists when they haven’t killed anyone?

Nine is plainly opposed to the notion, but you can see how having her around would make it easier for them to do what they need to do while having someone to distract them, but I never thought it was a good thing, and Lisa’s role was unneeded.

The show went on with Sphinx giving out clues to the police, to a certain point their goal is unclear but that’s why I love Shibazaki, he was smart enough to uncover all of the clues and even get to the point the boys were trying to uncover for the country of Japan, to learn of the governments evil deeds and there were parts in the second half of the series that had me in complete tears.

This show was smartly crafted in a way to have people thinking the reality behind Good and Evil, Who are the bad guys, Nine and Twelve and their so-called terrorism towards the country of Japan, or the way the Japanese Government used children as Lab rats

We are left to decide this choice and I wish the ending didn’t go the way it did, but we are always left wondering, what could have anyone done differently so these events didn’t occur.

Mairimashita! Iruma-kun Season 1

(**Disclaimer, Small spoilers ahead!!)

Rating: 7/10

Episodes: 23

Source: Manga

Genres: Comedy, Fantasy, Supernatural

Premiered: Fall 2019

I started to watch this series when It first came out in 2019, I stopped after 3 episodes and then recently started to watch it again since I needed something new to watch.

Ladies and Gentlemen I give you Iruma Kun season 1!

Fourteen-year-old Iruma Suzuki has been unfortunate all his life, having to work to earn money for his irresponsible parents despite being underage. One day, he finds out that his parents sold him to the demon Sullivan. However, Iruma’s worries about what will become of him are soon relieved, for Sullivan merely wants a grandchild, pampering him and making him attend the demon school Babyls.

At first, Iruma tries to keep a low profile in fear of his peers discovering that he is human. Unfortunately, this ends up being more difficult than he expected. It turns out that Sullivan himself is the chairman of the school, and everyone expects him to become the next Demon King!

Iruma immediately finds himself in an outrageous situation when he has to chant a forbidden spell in front of the entire school. With this, Iruma instantly earns a reputation he does not want. Even so, he is bound to be roped into more bizarre circumstances.

[Written by MAL Rewrite]

Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun came out in fall 2019, given to us by Bandai Namco Pictures studios who gave us Gintama.

The story

The plot follows Iruma Suzuki, a 14-year-old human who is sold to a demon (and ends up being his grandson instead). He lacks the ability to say no when someone asks please, but he does have the ability to dodge danger and manages to make a high-ranking demon his age his servant.

If you were looking for a kick ass demon anime, you’ve come to the wrong place.

Iruma arrives in the demon realm shortly after being sold to a demon named Sullivan, who happens to be the headmaster of Babyls, the most prestigious demon school in the Neverworld, and decides to send him there (you find out that Iruma has never had the chance to go to school)

Iruma intends to blend in because he is human… BUT, as fate would have it, his (now demon) grandfather Sullivan chooses to introduce him to the entire school population, and as a result, he is forced to give the opening address and is now known as the honor student.

He is then picked out by Asmodeus Alice, who was scheduled to give a speech and is irritated that Iruma is taking his place in the spotlight; nevertheless, thanks to Iruma’s knack for avoiding danger, he manages to doge all of Asmodeus’s assaults before finally striking him with a German surplex.

After defeating Asmodeus, he agrees to be Iruma’s willing servant for the rest of his life simply for conquering him without the use of magic; this is how Iruma (the human) obtains his first servant.

The drama continues as Iruma tries to conceal the fact that he is a human among demons, telling himself that he will not stand out, and again…
Life has its own agenda.

Welcome to Demon School Iruma is a wonderful anime about a 14-year-old boy who meets his first friends and learns the ways of the Neverworld among demons, all the while fearing that they will eat him if they find out who he is.

But the more I watched this show, the more this notion went from my mind since I have a sneaking suspicion that no one will care.

Heading through the episodes, I felt like the plot was repeating itself, but as I got closer to episode 18, I realized it was actually going someplace. The show ended with a cliff hanger that I was fully prepared for and for certain made me want to watch more!

Even though the majority of the episodes focused on Iruma navigating his new life, you can tell that there are things going on at work in the background. In Episode 5, Iruma and his classmates are told they must take a test in order to receive their rank. Iruma takes the test and receives a ring in the process, which is called the Ring of Gluttony.

In the demon school Babyls, ranking is everything; lower-ranking demons have fewer privileges than higher-ranking demons. Iruma learns that he must climb the ranks in order to finally realize a desire he’s never had the chance to pursue.

If your looking for a laugh or just a wholesome anime then you’ve looked no further.

Iruma Suzuki

Iruma is a unique character; he’s the primary character you can’t despise; you have to adore him in every way!

He understands that he is not a demon and that he lacks the magic that other demons possess, but he manages to ascend through the ranks of the school (very slowly might I add)

Iruma is kind-hearted and dislikes conflict. When others ask for favors, he can’t say no, and he’s especially vulnerable to the words “help,” “please,” and “I implore you.” His environment also helped him build a strong defense, allowing him to avoid any attack. He’s a big eater, having gone hungry for most of his life and having had little time to enjoy the food he did eat in the human world. He is a pacifist who despises utilizing violence to solve problems, even when dealing with those who are hostile to him.

Asmodeus Alice

Asmodeus is my favorite character!

He first starts off as a show off because of his immense power as a first year and is often put on a pedestal for it. After being defeated by Iruma, he becomes his servant and ends up putting his needs on a back burner.

It was so lovable to see him come into the term of friendship (obviously a human term)

Asmodeus still holds his powers and fire magic in high regard, seeing them as emblems of his family. Asmodeus is chilly and direct with the majority of people. He doesn’t try to be polite, and he frequently makes it clear that he is uninterested in the person with whom he is conversing.

Clara Valac

Clara pretty much reminds me so much of myself (personality wise)

Clara is one of the more unusual pupils at school, behaving like a giddy child. She has a lot of energy that most students can’t handle. Other pupils find her strange and difficult to work with, yet are drawn to her because of her innate strength. She would give students sweets and drinks as “payment” for playing with her because she had no friends.

Her immaturity makes it difficult for others to get along with her, to the point where the majority of the class can’t stand her and wonders how Alice and Iruma can put up with her. Despite her childishness, Clara is well aware of how others perceive her as an irritation and, in an effort to fit in, she gives in to their demands.

She also gets very jealous especially of the student council president.

Azazel Ameri

Ameri is the student council president and much a main character now as Sullivan (Iruma’s demon grandfather).

She is strong and beautiful . Ameri is first perceived as a severe, cold, and imposing figure who punishes demons that cause trouble at school. She takes her job as president of the student council very seriously and with a sense of responsibility. She may be rather forceful as a result of this, using her power and fearsome appearance to put demons in their place.

She has a temper, but it is only directed at someone who poses a threat to her or the institution. Despite this, she does not misuse her position of power, and she has helped several former delinquent students improve their grades and positions, gaining their eternal loyalty.

She does, however, have a sweet side, as evidenced by her love of romantic manga.

The Voice acting

Even though the sub has some fantastic voices of (Takaya Kuroda, Ryohei Kimura, Daisuke Ono and Ayumu Murase) I started watching in dub like I always do and I just pretty much prefer it.

Don’t quote me on this but the dub was possibly done by Crunchyroll because there is literally no information for me find aha.

Lets start with Laura Stahl who plays to Iruma. I feel like Iruma is a very simple character in terms of voice, Yes Iruma is a male and voiced by a Female voice actor but who gives a shit in 2021! (as Arim from attack on titan his Japanese voice actress is female).

I feel like Laura’s portrayal of Iruma is Ernest and I always think she has so much fun while in the booth, this is what makes dub so special.

Billy Kametz plays Asmodeus and the first time I heard Billy’s voice in an anime was his role has Josuke in the 4th part of Jojo’s bizarre adventures and he is truly a remarkable find.

Just as he smashed his role as Josuke, he rocks as Asmodus, you really hear the excitement in his voice when Asmodus gets excited or when he’s yelling at Clara you can really feel his rage. (he does wonderful for the character is clearly my favorite)

Kayli Mills plays Clara. Kayli is a voice actress that I haven’t had a pleasure of hearing way too often only the roles of (Runa from Kakegurui, Sasha from The misfit of demon academy and Alice from Sword art online).

Kayli is a delight to hear since Clara is probably one of the most difficult voices to do (In my own opinion anyways), I give her credit where credit is due, wonderful job!

we also have wonderful extra voices of Kyle Herbert and Kira buckland.

Manga Discussion: Chainsaw Man Chapter 1

Everyone is hyped about the new chainsaw anime coming out sometime soon, I’m predicting maybe in the Fall of 2021 or maybe even Winter 2020.

I watched the trailer and I knew straight away that Studios MAPPA had the pleasure of bringing the Manga panels to life. ( If you are not sure who MAPPA are? you might know them from their previous work on Jujustsu Kaisen, The god of High school and Banana fish, along with many more)

The more times I watch the official trailer the more I got excited for it and then I went, why don’t I read the first chapter of the manga and see what it’s like, if its this good on screen then the manga must be good.

( I will be showing some panel’s from the manga so if you want to watch without any surprises, I ask you to read no further 🙂 )

Page 1

So when the hype started forming for this manga/anime that I had never heard of before, I had watched a youtube video that I watched my favorite youtuber win a chainsaw man plushie and I wondered?

what the hell is that thing?

and then realized it was a character in the manga, and I was very surprised, it was very cute…

Page 10

Main character guys!

he looks very sad and lonely.

It’s going to be very interesting to see how he progresses.

Page 21

It’s sad to see a kid die so young.

RIP main character

Page 22

Ooo shit is about to go down.

tbh this wasn’t surprising in the least.

Page 26

Panels like this give be goosebumps

this is how you know shits going to be good when it gets animated (MAPPA are going to make it the anime of the year much like they did with Jujustsu Kaisen)

Page 33

You can only ask yourself what’s going on here.

and then I say if you have watched Parasyte Maxim you will know exactly what’s going on here.

Page 53

This looks like its going to be a interesting partner ship, If I don’t say so myself.

While reading the first chapter I asked myself a couple of questions

  1. who is this women, and how is she going to fit into the plot?
  2. this just reminds me too much of paraysite, I hope it doesnt?
  3. Weve only seen one side to the main character, is he going to be interesting or boring?

I am very excited to read more, and see how the adaptation turns out

Beastars- Episode 1 “The Moon and the Beast”

**Spoilers ahead**

In the honor of season 2 being released on Netflix, I decided to re-watch season 1 and In honor of Season 1 I will be giving you my thoughts about the show through these series of episode reviews.

If you haven’t watched this series before I highly recommend you do before reading this

let the show commence!

As I re-watch the first ever episode, it reminds me how I was able to binge this show in basically a day, Right off the bat we get scenes that have emotion in them, fear and asking our self’s what’s going to happen next??

This scene, had chills going down my spine, after reading the synopsis for the first time and hearing about the Carnivore’s vs herbivorous thing I was really excited to see something way cool, not like a Centaurs Life that came out a while back, this was the real deal.

And now that I know who in fact is the killer, its pretty obvious when you look back at it now (at least for me anyways)

fear is a irrational thing, but to these guys its all they have to survive, but it saddens to know that a death could mean the destruction of something the drama club has been able to accomplish something better than one type of species vs another, but I guess this is what gives Beastars its charm.

I have to admit, at first, I thought legoshi was a psycho, I mean just look at him, Of course this is what the show wants us to see…

He’s such a sweetie, giving the letter to her, telling her not to worry about the rumors about him, but I get it, everyone fears him because they think he’s the big bad wolf

Louis, such a douche bag

Haru, besides Legoshi, I wasn’t sure about her voice actor at the beginning but now that I re-watch, Lara Miller voices her brilliantly, just as I got to know Jonah Scott’s voice for the first time and much like Damien Mills has been climbing my favorite voice actors list slowly and slowly over the last year.

She’s such a defiant bunny, I like it!

This scene was sad, I was bullied at school but I never got anything like this, I guess the herbivores aren’t all as innocent as they lead themselves to be

This scene totally caught me off guard, I must say Beastars has some great animation, Louis is still a douche bag thou, how dare you treat someone this way.

Now this was something I wasn’t expecting… GO LEGOSHI!!

and then were right back the beginning, giving some kind of context to the first scene and I think from this moment on, I fell in love with this fantastic anime

Anime Discussion: My favorite Couples/Ships

As one of my favorite anime’s end and the guy gets the girl, I wondered which are my favorite Couples and ships

Small disclaimer: This is in now way rated from 1 to 10 its just counting all of them.

so here you go!

1. Couple: Kyo and Tohru from Fruit Basket

Kyo Sohma and Tohru Honda

The remake is finally finished and I defiantly cried into my dinner while watching the final episode.

We knew back in the day when we watched the original that we weren’t getting the whole story so people went to read the manga and ending up spoiling it for all of us by telling the voice actors that they are both married.

Watching the love between these two grow was a definite privilege to get a story such as fruits basket, to me it is one of the greatest anime’s of all times.

Natsuki Takaya is simply a great manga artist

2. Couple: Usui and Misaki from Maid Sama

Usui Takumi and Misaki Ayuzawa

Usui and Misaki, even though only having one season they deserve a round of applause as I have read the manga because I see no new season in the near future.

it’s actually quite a funny and sweet relationship between Usui and Misaki but it’s nice that he keeps her secret that she is a maid, at the end of the season, they confess that they like each other.

Since Maid Sama came out quite a while ago so Takumi and Ayuzawa are a couple anime lovers know and love.

3. Ship: Ash and Eiji from Banana Fish

Ash Lynx and Eiji Okumura

Banana Fish came out in 2018 and Ash and Eiji became the talk of the town slowly taking over the ship of Yuri and Viktor.

These two are adorable and their story was very tragic but it was lovely to see the two friends connect, and I was not ready for the ending they gave us, these two deserved better.

4. Couple: Asuna and Kirito from Sword Art Online

Kazuto Kirigaya and Asuna Yuuki

Kirito and Asuna are a well-known couple in anime, even though many people hate on sword art online, I actually like it and in turn, I love these two as Partners, Husband and wife and Boyfriend and Girlfriend, these two are just the cutest pair ever!!

5. Ship: Natsu and Lucy from Fairy Tail

Natsu Dragneel and Lucy Heatfilia

NATSU AND LUCY have always been in my heart ever since I first started watching fairy tail back in the day, these two were the main act and will forever be in my heart!

6. Ship: Gajeel and Levy from Fairy Tail

Gajeel Redfox and Levy McGarden

These two became a couple at the end of the final season but they aren’t considered official in the eyes of the author, Gajeel confessed his love to Levy as he thought he was dying, these broke my heart watching them two drift apart.

There reunion was very beautiful

7. Ship: Kogami and Akane from Psycho-Pass

Kogami Shinya and Akane Tsunemori

These two are an unusual pairing for the anime community but Kogami and Akane were a very good pair when working together.

Throughout the season Akane slightly changes as she gets closer to Kogami, sometimes we asks ourselves, was it healthy for Akane to meet Kogami in the first place, I say no but when shipping them together, I’d say they are the most adult pairing I’ve shipped.

8. Couple: Takeo and Rinko from My Love story

Takeo Gouda and Rinko Yammato

I hate pure romance anime’s but there is something about my love story that there is still humanity left in the world for the oddest couple to become one of the best love story’s out there for me.

If you haven’t watched this series yet, Go do so!!

9. Ship: Soul and Maka from Soul Eater

Soul Evans and Maka Albarn

Maka and Soul. Weapon and meister.

Their wavelength must be in sync to work together so in some ways there is some level of commitment between them both.

they worry about each other, there are scenes I could watch over and over again as they protect each other from evil, They are concerned for each other, as they are connected I would have loved for them to be together in the end.

10. Couple: Naruto and Hinata from Naruto

Need I say more.

The more I watch Boruto episodes, I see Hinata support Naruto even though he’s never around or misses the children’s birthdays.

they support each other in many ways and I will continue to support them for just as long I see them on the screen.

Kemono Jihen Episode 1 First Impression

Kemono Jihen! Funimation recently dubbed the series, and we have voices of Patrick Seitz and Madaline Morris as the two main characters

Ajia-Do Studios, which gave us anime-like, How Not to Summon a Demon Lord, Ascendance of a Bookworm and Izetta: The Last Witch. it released in Winter 2021.

Kemono Jihen is one of the strangest anime’s I’ve watched this year, and here provides some insight and my first impression of the first episode.

Kohachi Inugami, a detective who specializes in the occult, arrives at a remote village in the Japanese countryside, tasked by a hostess at a local inn to investigate a string of incidents involving rotting and mutilated livestock corpses that have been appearing for seemingly no reason. While surveying, Inugami notices a peculiar young boy working in the fields. Evaded by his peers and called “Dorotabou” for his stench, the young farmhand is surprised that anybody would take an interest in him.

Inugami, piqued with curiosity, enlists Dorotabou in helping him with the investigation, despite scorned looks from the villagers. Unbeknownst to Dorotabou, this investigation will reveal a strange new world to him—one of the beast-like entities known as Kemono existing in tandem with humans—along with breathing new purpose into his previously empty life.

[Written by MAL Rewrite]

The Episode starts off slow, young boys are walking home from school gloating to one boy, picking on a small boy named Dorotabou who is doing something in the fields

it kinda reminded me a bit about My hero when Bakugo and Midoriya were kids and the others would favor the cool kid because of what he had and the others didn’t (this was no different than that) which reminds me how much I want to teach my future niece or nephew that never think less of themselves.

The boys talk about the man coming from Tokyo

This guy arrives in the village (named Inugami) to take on a job from the land lady of the local inn, local livestock are turning up mutilated and this guy is here to help!

When arriving at the inn he comes across Dorotabou, and becomes interested in him.

After being served by the Inn’s son he asks the Hostess if Dorotabou would serve him instead, this makes the boy angry at the other

After asking Dorotabou a couple of questions finds out nothing else will happen for a couple of days, after a taking a liking to the boy, Inugami decides to spend his days helping Dorotabou with the chores.

Dorotabou’s necklace

Inugami asks Dorotabou about his necklace, he explains that his parents gave it to him, he has never met them and thinks their probably dead, Inugami corrects him and explains, they are most probably alive, and asks him “Would you like to meet them?”

On the night in question, the inn’s son gets angry at Dorotabou for stealing the glory from him

He begins to rip the necklace from him, and dorotabu starts fighting back when this happens

What next level shit is this?

The young boy runs away and Inugami explains to Dorotabu what he is and that he isn’t alone, this is when things got totally weird and I understood nothing of the explanations

Dorotabu is scared and thinks he’s the reason the livestock is dead and Inugami says it isnt him but he knows what is, dorotabu explains that the boy from earlier was in the woods and that they had to find him before the thing did.

and then the fight scene happened, IT WAS SO COOL

Dorotabu’s arm down the monsters throat

it was some next level shit im telling ya

as for the ending I was not expecting what happened at all

Watch or Drop?

Unfortunately even though the fight scene was really cool, I couldn’t get much information out for the first episode, I think because mainly I didn’t understand.

But I will be continuing for a few more episodes to see whether it is truly worth the watch

My Roommate is a Cat

Rating: 8.5/10

Episodes: 12

Source: web manga

Genres: Slice of Life, Comedy

Premiered: Winter 2019

This week I decided to watch something light and wholesome, so I give you ladies and gentleman

My Roommate is a Cat.

Subaru Mikazuki is a 23-year-old mystery novel author, major introvert, and an awkwardly shy person. He would much rather stay home to read a book than go outside and interact with others. Further exacerbating this life of solitude, his parents tragically died in an accident many years ago, leaving him alone in the world.

One day, while giving offerings at his parents’ grave, Subaru runs into a small grey and white cat named Haru, which he ends up taking home with him. Subaru, however, has never taken care of anyone else in his life—can he even take care of a cat? Haru is grateful toward Subaru, as he gives her all the food she wants—a luxury for a cat who is used to a rough life on the streets. But she notices that Subaru can’t even seem to take care of himself! Will she be okay with this dunce?

Doukyonin wa Hiza, Tokidoki, Atama no Ue. tells the story of an unlikely friendship between a human and a cat who try to foster an understanding with each other.

[Written by MAL Rewrite]

My roommate is a cat was released in Winter 2019 by Zero-G Studios, the studio behind Grand Blue, High-Rise Invasion, and Science Fell in Love, So I Tried to Prove It.

It was wonderful to watch something so wholesome and light, even though it did touch on some very real-life issues, as this anime was classified as a Slice of Life. The anime follows Subaru Mikazuki, a 23-year-old author who is essentially a shut-in author, unlike other anime authors such as Shigure Soma from Fruits Basket and Jiraiya from Naruto.

When Subaru was 20, he lost his parents. 3 years later Subaru has just finished his first novel and he’s working with his agent to come up with new ideas, but Subaru is uncomfortable with being around people in general, he could be classified as a major introvert, after his meeting he goes to visit his parent’s grave and as he is about to give an offering a small black and white cat with big red eyes steals the food, Subaru becomes inspired for his next book and takes the cat in.

This anime is 12 episodes and you see that most episodes are split in half which makes is hilarious but you actually ask yourself, why am I watching the first part all over again?

The way they did it was the first part was Subaru’s point of view but then, you get the Cat’s point of view.

Subaru POV

Subaru spends the first half of the show going about his daily routine, whether it’s working or reading, but it’s later revealed that he rarely eats and can pass out from lack of sleep or food. You can see his life change as he takes in the cat; each episode is unique, as he tries to balance life while caring for an animal (he named her after a story he read and wrote when he was younger)

After meeting Nana, who is also a cat owner, he realizes how much work goes into caring for a cat; which collar would look better on her? How much food should I feed her to keep her diet in check? It’s imperative that you take her to the veterinarian!

He gradually learns how to be human, but he also learns more about his parents, which bothers him immensely because he will never be able to speak to them again. However, he soon realizes that he has a family, his closest friend and his family, his editor, Nana, and her younger brother.

Haru’s POV

Haru’s perspective occupies the second half of the episode. Haru was a stray who had to look after her younger siblings, but she eventually lost them and was taken in by Subaru. Haru had been taught a lot of things by another cat and was told she had to pay back all of her obligations, so when Subaru feeds her, she feels beholden to him and follows him home.

She soon sees he is an unskilled person who is unable of doing anything on his own, and when it comes to feeding, she tries to leave her food for him in the hopes that he will eat it, only to become enraged when he does not. Unfortunately, humans are unable to communicate with animals, but we have learnt to understand the signs and emotions of our animals over time. Subaru, however, is perplexed as to why she continuously puts her food outside his room on the floor for him. (mainly because he’s never had a pet before)

Its quite comical when Subaru is trying to think of a name for her, he thinks of Haru, but Haru thinks that the word means food as a young girl used to feed her food and her name was haru, It was lovely to watch her realise that the word doesn’t mean food, but rather her name, something that belonged to her

The majority of her side of the episode is spent worrying about Subaru and being wary of everyone she meets, such as editor Kawase and bestfriend Hiroto, whom she tries to avoid as much as possible.

The ending was the most human episode of them all, as they both realize they are safe and have family in each other, I have only re watched this anime once but if the near future I need something to watch again, I would defiantly watch this again, it just shows you that humans and animals are family.

The Voice acting

The rights to the dub went to funimation with the main characters voiced by Austin Tindle as Subaru and Jad Saxton as Haru.

I think this was the first time I saw them work together in something on their own but I have to say they did a wonderful job, Austin Tindle really knows how to voice so many emotions in a character and as for Jad, I suspected nothing less of such as fantastic voice actor such as herself.

The supporting cast included Josh Grelle, Alexis Tipton and Kyle Ignezi.

Rating: 7/10

Episodes: 12

Source: Manga

Genres: Crime, seinen, drama, action

Premiered: Summer 2015

Following Jormungand, crime anime is one of my favorite genres on top of sports, today I will be reviewing the anime.

Nicholas Brown and Worick Arcangelo, known in the city of Ergastalum as the “Handymen,” are mercenaries for hire who take on jobs no one else can handle. Contracted by powerful mob syndicates and police alike, the Handymen have to be ready and willing for anything. After completing the order of killing a local pimp, the Handymen add Alex Benedetto—a prostitute also designated for elimination—to their ranks to protect her from forces that want her gone from the decrepit hellhole of a city she has come to call home. However, this criminal’s paradise is undergoing a profound period of change that threatens to corrode the delicate balance of power.

Ergastalum was once a safe haven for “Twilights,” super-human beings born as the result of a special drug but are now being hunted down by a fierce underground organization. This new threat is rising up to challenge everything the city stands for, and the Handymen will not be able to avoid this coming war.

[Written by MAL Rewrite]

The Story

Gangsta was produced in summer 2015 by Manglobe studios that gave us anime’s such as Karneval and deadman wonderland. unfortunately the studios went bankrupt 5 years ago.

The men known as “The Handymen” are recruited by the heads of the city and the police to take out a local pimp trying to sneak his way into territory previously claimed by the Monroe criminal family. While completing the job they come across the pimps prostitute Alex, who had previously been seen about, and would always be seen near the Handymen’s office singing/humming to herself.

The story follows Worrick and Nicolas as they execute work no one else can perform, outside the rules of Ergastalum. After the mission is complete they take Alex in and decide to let her help around the office.

Following the course of the next few episodes, we learn about Worrick, Nicolas and Alex while meeting some interesting people in the process, the anime is based around a city called Ergastalum that houses people called ‘Twilights’. Ergastalum is protected by four crime families and laws that are punishable by death.

The Corsica Family : The Corsica Family smuggles weapons into the city and also runs the sex industry within the city

The Monroe Family : The Monroe Family deals with commerce within the city and also provides support for Twilights unaffiliated with the Paulklee Guild.

The Cristiano Family : Within the city, the Cristiano Family’s sole responsibility is distributing Celebrer to the Twilights

The Paulklee Guild : The Paulklee Guild supplies Tagged mercenaries to a wide variety of clients, including the three major families

lot of technical terminology are thrown around throughout the series, and I love how unique it is and how well it is made up while still making sense. I feel like this anime is more about what’s going on in the background than what’s going on in the foreground, and it’s difficult not to give anything away because that’s what makes the anime so good the first time you watch it.

This has some awesome fight scenes to say that most of the characters are like mostly human 😉

Even though this anime is only 12 episodes long, there is a lot of explanation but also a lot of mystery, such as what happened to Worick’s eyes, what is a twilight, and who are the four fathers. Each episode makes you want to watch more, from the music to the storyline to the mountain of characters, this tale is very well thought out and well made, and if it ever came back on-screen I would be jumping up and down to watch it.

What is a downside that you get a cliff hanger and that the anime brings out its chapters not fast enough, so its best if you don’t get too attached to it.

Worick is a laid-back, upbeat individual who showers others with grins like confetti at a parade. He is exceedingly kind-hearted and protective of those he cares about, however despite his welcoming demeanor, he seems to keep most people at a distance when it comes to his personal difficulties.

While he has a laid-back demeanor, he takes things seriously when they are vital and completes the task at hand. Worick is prone to teasing others and has a naturally cheeky demeanor.

If I had to choose between him and Nicolas when it comes to looks, I would choose Worick in a heart beat even though it feels like Nicolas cares more about his appearance than Worick

Despite his upbeat facade and laid-back approach, Worick appears to have a nihilistic outlook on society as a whole, which he covers behind comedy and a pleasant disposition.
While his alignment isn’t wholly a ruse, he does admit to despise for both Twilights and non-Twilight’s, but he soon covers it up with a joke.

Nicolas is a strong fighter/twilight but even though he is a capable fighter he usually overdoses on his meds which makes him stronger, faster and more agile but there are a few Twilights that don’t accept his rank of A/O because of this.

Nic is usually quiet and aloof, even when he is around people he likes. He speaks occasionally out of frustration or when someone can’t comprehend sign language, but he mainly keeps to himself to avoid having to accommodate those who can’t communicate with him. Despite his irritability, he is capable of little acts of generosity, such as playing with Nina or steadying Alex when she is shaking too much to open her medicine. He seems to get a kick out of picking on people, which demonstrates his dark and caustic sense of humour.

Alex is cryptic, troubled, and quiet, however she speaks up more once Worick and Nicolas take her in. She’s sweet, kind, and to some, she acts as a big sister or mother figure.
Alex is shown to be protective and brave, prepared to put herself in danger to defend the people she loves about. We see this when she tries to defend Nic when he is harassed by prostitutes, comforting Worick when he has dreams about his past, and even beating a thug with a pipe to prevent him from raping a young Twilight girl.

Alex has also put her life on the line to keep Loretta safe from Erica. She’s capable as well as fiery.

There are a very different opinions of Alex as a main character as some people think there was no need for her and she was just dead weight but some people like 100 word anime had this to say “Alex is a necessary plot device in the story but as a character”

Besides the main three you have many characters that are cruicel to the story this includes the heads of the four families, Daniel Monroe, Gina Paulklee, Uranos Corsica and Loretta Cristiano.

You also have Dr. Theo and Nina, and the known Twilights such as Doug, Galahad, Delico, Mikahil and Erica.

Voice acting

Gangsta was given to funimation to dub, with Christopher Bevins as the ADR director while he still lived in Dallas.

Worrick voiced by my favorite man Ian Sinclair, Alex voiced by Felecia Angelle and Nicolas voiced by the fantastic Brandon potter who I say had the hardest job since Nicolas doesn’t speak that often but when he goes its very broken since he’s deaf, I would feel Brandon had to do many takes to get the right voice but since he’s been in the industry for over decade I think he did a great job!

also hearing voices of Eric Vale, Alexis Tipton, Greg Ayres, Mark Stoddard, Robert McCollum and Bryn Apprill

Episodes: 24

Source: manga

Genres: Action, adventure

Premiered: Spring 2012

Jormungand is one of the few anime’s that I can continue to re watch without ever getting bored, Jormungand isn’t one of the best anime’s I’ve seen but it definitely is different.

Brought up in a conflict-ridden environment, child soldier Jonathan “Jonah” Mar hates weapons and those who deals in them. But when Koko Hekmatyar, an international arms dealer, takes on Jonah as one of her bodyguards, he has little choice but to take up arms. Along with Koko’s other bodyguards, composed mostly of former special-ops soldiers, Jonah is now tasked with protecting Koko and her overly idealistic goal of world peace from the countless dangers that come from her line of work.

Jormungand follows Koko, Jonah, and the rest of the crew as they travel the world selling weapons under the international shipping company HCLI. As Koko’s work is illegal under international law, she is forced to constantly sidestep both local and international authorities while doing business with armies, private militaries, and militias. With the CIA always hot on her trail, and assassins around every corner, Jonah and the crew must guard Koko and her dream of world peace with their lives or die trying.

[Written by MAL Rewrite]

Opening and Ending

The show has two opening songs and two closing songs

Mami Kawada- Borderland
Maon Kurosaki – under/shaft

These two are the two openings for the show and they have the energy, I always enjoyed listening to them, but what I also liked were the background songs throughout the show the OST for Jormungand is tailored to the show and its characters there is even an OST named ‘Time to Rock and role’ and its lyrics even include “her name is Koko she is loco”

The Story

In the spring of 2012, Jormungand premiered at the White Fox Studios, which gave us shows like Akame ga Kill and Steins; Gate. The show is divided into two seasons

You believe Jonah is the most important character, but you realize that the whole Koko team is the principal character as the first two episodes progress. I haven’t been a big fan of large casts as I have said in my review before, but Jormungand needs them to remain relevant. In several episodes we also get character history and backgrounds, which I must say are thought out brilliantly.

There is nothing evident in Jormungand’s early season, but in episode 15, we lost one favourite and everything changed for everyone; Koko loses one bodyguard; that was part of Operation Undershaft, an operation that transformed the HCLI information network into a military logistical asset through Koko.

This show has a lot of different characters with different personalities and skill sets who help Koko sell weapons and other items to different people; there is a lot of death in this show, as it should be; I’d also compare it to the anime ‘Black Lagoon,’ which is also one of my favorite different anime’s I’ve watched.

Since this is a Japanese anime, we see a variety of countries, not just within the borders of Japan.
In addition to that, we see several agencies like the CIA, as well as groups of mercenaries and assassins like the Orchestra and the Balkan Dragons, a militia.

In this anime there are many fan services, which I love, for nobody appreciates beautiful people so much as I.
There are many different ways of enjoying the plot, either due to the storyline and magnificent characters, or because it is near regular law shows.

Jormungand’s worth your time if you have a sense of humour and enjoy killing, fighting, and chasing scenes.

Jonah Marr

Jonah is a young child who is enlisted into HCLI as Koko’s bodyguard after being found by her brother Kasper and imprisoned in a storage container for days without food or water for interfering with his plans, driving Jonah to loathe Kasper and serve for Koko. He gradually changes after meeting Miss Hekmatyar; he is obliged to work as a team and even establishes ties with her troop of Bodyguards.

Jonah is still a child and lacks the mindset of the others, but he shows that he still has humanity when he holds firm in his opposition to weapons, despite the fact that he must use them for his work.

Koko, there’s a lot I can say about this woman.

Koko is a mostly cryptic character who rarely expresses her genuine feelings. She appears cheerful and pleasant most of the time, yet she may be immature with her subordinates, throwing fits when irritated or angry. She, on the other hand, is able to bounce back swiftly and rarely gets stuck. She is able to have a clear head even in risky situations and often smiles when she is in danger.

Koko may be mad, cruel, and determined, making her a dangerous opponent who will not hesitate to use any means necessary to achieve her goals, including lethal force.
However, depending on the circumstances, a single action or phrase by her opponent can urge her to show pity to them, and she has been willing to spare them on occasion.

Koko’s Squad

Koko, Jonah, Lehm, Lutz, Mao, Tojo, Ugo, Velmet, Wiley, R

Koko’s Squad is an international bodyguards team that supports and protects Koko Hekmatyar throughout the globe. They usually follow her and remain together, because of the highly dangerous nature of Koko’s work, for mutual protection. Almost all of them are former soldiers and bring an eclectic combination of talents and abilities together. Trained cross-sectionally in a variety of firearms, the group is supported by HCLI to freely choose anything that they want or need.

Throughout the anime you get a backstory from most of the crew and learn how they became to be specialists in there own field and how they began working for Koko.

The Voice acting

The english dub for Jormungand was given to Funimation with Christopher Bevins as the ADR director. It is not uncommon for the ADR director to have a part as well, Christopher voiced Tojo.

Koko’s character was given to Anastasia Munoz who has a fantastic voice and I have been a big fan of hers, Much like Shelley Calene Black, she isn’t well known but they are both fantastic voice actors.

Jonah’s role was given to Micah Solusod who back then was a rising star within funimation back then with his roles in Soul eater and A Certain Magical Index.

The cast also included names like Carli Mosier, Eric Vale, Partick Seitz and Robert McCollum.
