Demon Slayer Movie Mugen Train

What’s up guys! It’s been a long time 😀

Just the other day I got to watch the English dub for the new demon slayer movie….

Synopsis

After a string of mysterious disappearances begin to plague a train, the Demon Slayer Corps’ multiple attempts to remedy the problem prove fruitless. To prevent further casualties, the flame pillar, Kyoujurou Rengoku, takes it upon himself to eliminate the threat. Accompanying him are some of the Corps’ most promising new blood: Tanjirou Kamado, Zenitsu Agatsuma, and Inosuke Hashibira, who all hope to witness the fiery feats of this model demon slayer firsthand.

Unbeknownst to them, the demonic forces responsible for the disappearances have already put their sinister plan in motion. Under this demonic presence, the group must muster every ounce of their willpower and draw their swords to save all two hundred passengers onboard. Kimetsu no Yaiba Movie: Mugen Ressha-hen delves into the deepest corners of Tanjirou’s mind, putting his resolve and commitment to duty to the test.

Review

Let’s talk about the nice opening of the film where It’s just head honcho Kagaya is walking around with his lovely wife Amane, its a lovely slow start to the film which now has reached over 15 billion yen in Japan just recently! (how awesome is that)

The film picks up where the first season left off, with Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inouske after healing and then heading to a train to assist Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku with a demon crisis.

It’s amusing to note that both Insouke and Tanjiro have never seen a train before, and as you might have seen from trailers and other promotional materials, Inosuke is seen hanging out the window for the first half of the film because he’s excited, nothing less from our demon slayer with a boar head.

We only met the Hashira’s briefly last season, and we only really got to know Giyu and Shinobu, so it was great to meet another powerful demon slayer. Considering the fact that all of the Hashira’s are super strong and have their own aspect, it’s good to know that each of them has their own personality aside from “I must destroy demons.”

Rengoku is a very peculiar man, and he is a man with few words, as I and Zenitsu both realized.

I must admit, I had read the manga before seeing the film, so I knew what was going to happen next. When I’ve read something (like I read a bit of Attack on Titan before the last season came out), I’m still excited to see the pictures come to life in the anime, and I’m no stranger to loving Zenitsu’s panic attacks.

This film covers approximately 15 chapters of the manga, and I was not disappointed in the adaptation at all. It took me a long time to become involved in the demon slayer fandom, but the oddity of the characters and the deep conviction of the plot gradually pulled me in, reminding me of Jujutsu Kaisen and Ao no Exorcist.

Its nice to know that almost 12 minutes in, the film is starting to move in the way towards the whole point of the mission, and I’ve watched the whole first season and nothing is as horrible as the demon in front of the boys…

It doesn’t take long for Insouke to charge head first into enemy territory, only to be saved by Rengoku, demonstrating how much more training he needs to even come close to being as strong as a Hashira. I adore the silly goof ball as much as the next person, but I would love to see him grow stronger and learn how to prepare before going into battle later on, not just in the film.

Although the manga has finished, I continue to read and watch in the hopes that this will come true.

Watching each of them dream about something under the demon’s influence doesn’t surprise me all that much; we already know about Zenitsu’s love for Nezuko, Tanjiro’s love for his deceased relatives, and we just let Insouke slide because I believe he was dropped on his head when he was a baby 😉

When I looked at all of the dreams together, it didn’t surprise me that Tanjiro’s core is just a really clear sky, while Rengoku’s core is a pit of fire, almost symbolizing the forces they hold because Tanjiro practices water art and Rengoku practices flame art.

Then when it comes to the two other boys Zentisu is kind of a psychopath when it comes to the things he wants where as Inouske is practically a wild animal hence the boar head he always wears, In all I think this film gives us the sense of who they are not just on the outside but on the inside as well.

So let’s talk about the two brand new cast members that Funimation has given us for this film, Mark Whitten as Rengoku and Landon McDonald as Enmu, the movie’s powerful demon, and I have to say they did an amazing job bringing these two characters to life. As a long time dub watcher, I have heard a lot of new voices over the last two years to see more and more new opportunities being given to the new voice actors.

Despite all of the hard and fast-paced scenes that keep you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next, the film knows how to pull on heartstrings, and you’ll definitely be bawling your eyes out by the end because If you know what I mean, grab some tissues and get ready!

Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai: The Clouds Gather

Rating: 10/10

Source: Manga

Genres: Drama, Yaoi, Crime

Premiered: Winter 2020

As a women unfortunately I am one of the percent of women who like BL. I wouldn’t go as far to call myself a full time Fujoshi, I have read many Yaoi Manga and watched anime such as Junjo Romantica and Sekaiichi Hatsukoi.

Synopsis

Yashiro is the young leader of Shinseikai and the president of the Shinseikai Enterprise, but like so many powerful men, he leads a double life as a deviant and a masochist. Doumeki Chikara comes to work as a bodyguard for him and, although Yashiro had decided that he would never lay a hand on his own men, he finds there’s something about Doumeki that he can’t resist. Yashiro makes advances toward Doumeki, but Doumeki has mysterious reasons for denying. Yashiro, who abuses his power just to abuse himself, and Doumeki, who faithfully obeys his every command, begin the tumultuous affair of two men with songs in their hearts and no wings to fly.

Review

I read the manga for this, which has been ongoing since 2008 and has yet to be completed, and when they announced an anime film in 2019, I swear I had the biggest smile on my face. It’s been over a year since I finally found it online, and after a long morning trying to figure out how to use CGI, I came back, put my feet up, and watched.

I was so excited to see this because the anime label ‘Blue Lynx,’ which supported the Given film, was also behind this film, so I was curious to see what they would do with the manga as it was adapted into animation. Since the manga already had an audio CD, the voice actors were already cast.

Our two principal characters/voice actors are Shingaki, Tarusuke as Yashiro and Wataru, Hatano as Doumeki. It wasn’t anything new for me because I’d already heard the BLCD, and both voice actors, as well as the rest of the cast, do an outstanding job!

After seeing the trailer, I was very excited, and Studio Grizzly did an excellent job with the animation. However, having worked on the Yarichin Bitch-bu anime, I was concerned about the direction it would take, whether it would follow the manga, and whether it would be as good as I expect it to be, how many BL scenes will we get, given that most Yaoi anime’s avoid steamy scenes?

All those questions went through my head when watching this.

I don’t expect anyone to go out of their way to watch BL because it isn’t for everyone, but as a Fujoshi, I had to say that this film was far superior to the Given film that was recently released on Cruncyroll. The music was composed by H Zettrio, a Japanese jazz pianist, and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed it!

The music was elegant, and it worked well for a Yakuza anime. We don’t see many yakuza anime, which I wish would change because I am a major crime drama fan, but as we all know, the Japanese keep their sexuality’s to themselves and keep them hidden. The plot follows Yashiro as he acquires a new bodyguard, Doumeki, who is a perfect match for Yashiro’s type but 1. Doumeki is not a homosexual and 2. He’s impotent.

What is actually quite sad about this anime in the underlying issues the characters have, the stories they have to tell.

Yashiro is a total masochistic when it comes to the things he likes but when your showed his past you actually feel sorry for him even though you never seem to know what hes thinking and neither does his friend Kageyama.

Yashiro never will sleep with someone he truly likes or he will never love anyone, but we see slight changes when Domueki becomes apart of his staff.

This anime movie is around 1 hours and 15 minutes long and I loved every second of it, mainly because I couldn’t wait for this fantastic manga to be animated so beautifully.

One Piece Stampede

(SPOLIERS AHEAD!!)

Released: 2019

From One Piece Strong World to One Piece Stampede, the One Piece movies have been trying to up each other in terms of animation, fight scenes and just storylines combined and One Piece Stampede tops Gold that came out in 2016.

Without a further ado, One Piece Stampede.

Synopsis

The world’s greatest exposition of the pirates, by the pirates, for the pirates—the Pirates Festival. Luffy and the rest of the Straw Hat Crew receive an invitation from its host Buena Festa who is known as the Master of Festivities. They arrive to find a venue packed with glamorous pavilions and many pirates including the ones from the Worst Generation. The place is electric.

(Source: ANN)

The Story

Rating: 5 out of 5.

The film starts in the past which brings us back to the present day when the straw hats are invited to the Pirate Festival.

While the festival is going on we see Captian smoker and Tashigi in disguise which doesn’t surprise me since they are in the navy, Interested in a man called ‘Douglas Bullet’ and the mysterious party planner Buena Festa who is supposed to rumoured to be deceased.

I loved the pirate festival idea, we’ve seen a lot of other pirate crews over the years and it was nice to see everyone in one place, playing a game that was supposed to be fun but it wouldn’t be a one piece movie without an overpowered super villain like Douglas Bullet.

When you learn about the treasure Gold Roger left on the island you wonder what it could be, only to learn it’s an eternal pose to the one piece, the island it’s located on as it changed from ‘Raftale’ to ‘laughtale’ doesn’t make much difference but I can see the vaulubility in it.

It wouldn’t be one piece without good fight scenes and good crying scenes, I died when Ussop apologised to Luffy, broke my heart, If Luffy wasn’t who he was, I don’t think Usopp would have joined a pirate crew even though he is a fantastic sniper.

What does annoy me, The Navy most of them train together, they laugh and cry together, but it pissed me off when Smoker had no idea what was going on, that Akinu’s only last resort was a BUSTER CALL which I think was unnecessary!

Both the navy and the pirates have very heavy hitters like the Admirals, but all they do is stand on their boats calling orders, I was never a big fan of Kizaru or Akainu mainly because their massive A-Holes.

Many different sides are trying to get the eternal pose and in all fairness, no one should be allowed to have it and in the end, I’m glad Luffy destroys it as it wouldn’t be much of an adventure for everyone to get the One piece just by cheating, not that this story impacts the storyline in any way as it’s not a canon movie.

Characters

Rating: 4 out of 5.
The Worst Generation

I was not surprised to see the worst generation in this film, with the festival of pirates going on, I wasn’t too surprised to see them in the same vicinity (much like the Sabaody arc) Who I was surprised to see was Wapol (drum island arc) and The foxy Pirates (who in my opinion really got on my nerves). It was so nice to see so many familiar faces in this film including Buggy, Boa Hancock, Sabo and Rob Lucci!
And you can’t forget the straw hat grand fleet pirate captains Bartolomeo and Cavendish.

But avid One piece watchers don’t want to hear about the characters that we’ve been watching over the years, One Piece stampede offers us a brand-new bad guy, one that poses a threat both to the Marines and the Pirates, but we ask ourselves why are we only we getting a glimpse of a powerful adversary now?

Douglas Bullet

Douglas Bullet was voiced by the Fantastic daman mills who this role has been his best so far even though he voiced Tanaka (One piece gold). Douglas was a crew member of the Gold Rogers crew which added to the fear to the movie but since he’s only a canon character and no way
impacts the main storyline of One piece he is a fantastic villain!

His entire character build is fantastic, he is almost as tall as a giant which makes me ask what the hell kind of training he put himself through?
What he did remind me of when it came to his final boss fight, his ability reminded me so much of the final boss fight in ‘My hero academia Tale of two heroes’ when Wolfram (voice by Keith Silverstein)

Tale of Two heros

Fight Scenes

Rating: 5 out of 5.

One Piece stampede has some wonderful fight scenes, the ones that stood out the most was

  • Zoro vs Fujitora
  • The worst generation vs bullet
  • The team vs Bullett
Zoro Vs Fujitora

Now I have to be honest, I’m only following the dub so that means I’m only at the start of the dressrosa arc, so I don’t know much of How strong Fujitora is but since he’s an admiral and how he can keep his own against Zoro who was basically trained by the greatest swordsman Mihawk but to bring down a meteorite is amazing in his own rights and I wonder why he wasn’t present for the battle at marineford.

It was a fantastic fight that ended in a draw

The Worst Generation vs Bullet

It really hasn’t been since the sabaody arc that we haven’t seen the worst generation all in one place and let me say it was a wonderful fight, sadly ending in a loss for our favourite pirates.

dispite the loss it was great to watch this scene, it had been two years since any of them had been in the same place but It was also great to see how much each of them had powered up especially Kidd .

The Big Team up

Smoker, Law, Buggy, Luffy, Sabo, Luci, Boa (Missing Croccodile)

One of the best team up’s I have ever seen, excluding Buggy of course because he actually never did anything impressive and I always see him as a hinderance more than help.

Getting pirates, Warlords, Revolutionarys, Cipher pol and the Navy to team up together is just Luffy’s super power to bring people together

Team up video

Like every character Luffy has gone up against, he has lost but in the end, he always wins and somehow manages to master something new, I believe his fight with Dolfamingo during the dressrosa arc levelled Luffy up so much It wasn’t right for Luffy to lose at the end of this movie but tbh that would have made a very different ending.

What was great about this team-up was Sabo, we met him during the dressrosa arc and it led him to take the flame flame fruit and inheriting Ace’s will, we have seen him in Gold using his new power keeping Cypher pol from the action and this is where Luffy finally gets to fight with his brother he had thought he had lost for so long

My Overall opinion

What I absolutely love about this movie is that we get everyone in one place, everyone we’ve ever met and loved all in one movie, I really hope we have more movies like this one.

My 5 Favourite Detective Conan Movies

So during the Christmas period I did a lot of Conan watching because I absolutely love this anime that has just as many episodes as One Piece and has 23 almost 24 movies.

5. Movie 2 The Fourteenth Target

Released: 1998

With potential victims still at risk, Conan and the police are determined to catch the culprit. As the case gradually unfolds, both Conan and his friend Ran Mouri learn more about her parents’ separation and the truth on what transpired a decade ago.

[Written by MAL Rewrite]

Why?

The first 6 movies are in english and I do enjoy these movies. The reason why the Fourteenth Target is at number 5, It was enjoyable to watch and the story was excellently made up and I have watched it a numerous of times and I don’t feel I will get enough of this series, Its just the other movies have the better edge.

4. Movie 3 The Last wizard of the century

Released: 1999

Synopsis

Kaitou Kid dares to challenge the police once more, setting his sights on the Russian Imperial Easter Egg. With the date, time, and place, the Osaka police force scrambles to stop him. But this time, Kid may have bitten off more than he can chew—Conan Edogawa, Heiji Hattori, and numerous others are also trying to get their hands on the jeweled egg.

At the center of these developments, it is up to Conan to solve the gruesome murders and catch Kid, all while protecting those close to him and concealing his identity.

[Written by MAL Rewrite]

Why?

I really enjoyed this movie! It was the first appearance of Kaito Kid in the Conan movies, and they couldn’t have done a better job, the story behind the last wizard of the century was expertly done to make it a wonderful story despite the murders, this was also a great way to bring Kaito Kid into the mix, and I must say he always makes the story’s a hundard times exciting when people are pulling on each others faces trying to find him.

3. Movie 17 Private Eye in the Distant Sea

Released: 2013

Synopsis

The movie is set on a state-of-the art Aegis vessel with the full cooperation of Japan’s real-life Ministry of Defense and Maritime Self-Defense Force. The corpse of a Self-Defense Force member has been found—minus the left arm—and a spy has infiltrated the Aegis vessel. The heroine Ran is put in jeopardy, and Conan is forced to stand up against the dangerous Spy “X.”

(Source: ANN)

Why?

I recently watched this film, let me tell you why this is my number 3. This film reminds me so much of the films that contain story lines around the black organisation. I thought this was an excellent film and it had so many twists and turns I wonder where the creator of Conan comes up with it, I definatly shared a tear when Ran was in danger (even if i knew nothing that bad would happen in the end).

I Really enjoyed being glued to the screen wondering what would happen next.

2. Moive 14 The Lost Ship in the Sky

Released: 2010

Synopsis

One night, the Tokyo National Institute of Microorganisms is attacked by a mysterious organization calling themselves the “Red Siamese Cats.” The group causes the explosion of a high-security lab storing a virus—said to have a mortality rate of 80% with no known cure. This act of terror dominates the headlines, overshadowing the unveiling of the world’s biggest airship developed under Jirokichi Suzuki. Peculiarly, the unveiling has a note attached for Kaito “Kaitou Kid” Kuroba, challenging him to steal the jewel on display—the illustrious Lady Sky.

Conan Edogawa is permitted to board the airship along with Kogorou Mouri, Ran Mouri, Sonoko Suzuki, Professor Agasa, and the Detective Boys. However, their fun comes to a halt when an unknown caller contacts Jirokichi and declares that they have released a certain virus in the smoking room. Soon after, symptoms begin to appear among the passengers and chaos ensues. Seizing the opportunity, the Red Siamese Cats suddenly appear and hijack the airship!

To stop the assailants, Conan and Kaitou Kid, along with their allies, must work together to decipher the clues and discover the Red Siamese Cats’ real objective before time runs out.

[Written by MAL Rewrite]

Why?

Now I could say why this was my number 2 favourite but I think the description could say why this movie was an exciting one.

I have seen many Jirokichi Suzuki vs Kaito kid story lines and this was by far the best one, only to throw the bad guys in the mix and you get one hell of a movie!

1. Movie 23 The Fist of Blue Sapphire

Released: 2019

Synopsis

The world’s greatest blue sapphire, the “blue lapis fist”, is said to have sunk in a pirate ship in the late 19th century, off the coasts of Singapore. A local millionaire plots to retrieve it, and when it’s displayed in an exhibition at the Singapore Marina Bay Sands hotel, a murder takes place. A bloody Kaitou Kid announcement card is found in the crime scene.

In the meantime, Kogoro, Ran, and Sonoko have come to Singapore to cheer on the strongest karateka with a streak of 400 consecutive victories, Makoto Kyogoku, who is fighting in a karate tournament held there, Unfortuently Makoto’s sponsor is killed so the Suzuki family sponsors him instead. Conan, who doesn’t have a passport and can’t travel overseas, was supposed to stay at home. He begs for Haibara to give him the antidote for him to transform to Shinichi, but she refuses.

Later that night, while Conan goes out for a walk, Kid, disguised as Ran, sneaks up behind Conan. Conan notices her, but then gets captured. Conan, realizing he is trapped in a suitcase, uses a pen to poke the zipper and he promptly gets out. Looking around, he realizes that he is in Singapore. Conan also realizes his body color got darker.

(sourced by Wiki)

Why?

Blue Sapphire was AMAZING! This movie was the first one I watched in Japanese and fell in love all over again, Throwing Kaito Kid (disguised as Kudo), Makoto (who we really don’t get to see much of) and a whole lot of shit going down in one city, It was really cool to see how strong Makoto was and to see what transpires.

My favourite part was Makoto saving Sonoko from the bad guys, some truly amazing animation!

Howl’s moving castle

Last week I asked twitter which movie I should review, How’ls moving castle was chosen so here we go!

Here is the review for one of my top favourite Studio Ghibli Movies.

(Since Im reviewing this movie spoliers are ahead, please read after watching if needed)

Synopsis

That jumbled piece of architecture, that cacophony of hissing steam and creaking joints, with smoke billowing from it as it moves on its own… That castle is home to the magnificent wizard Howl, infamous for both his magical prowess and for being a womanizer—or so the rumor goes in Sophie Hatter’s small town. Sophie, as the plain daughter of a hatmaker, does not expect much from her future and is content with working hard in the shop.

However, Sophie’s simple life takes a turn for the exciting when she is ensnared in a disturbing situation, and the mysterious wizard appears to rescue her. Unfortunately, this encounter, brief as it may be, spurs the vain and vengeful Witch of the Waste—in a fit of jealousy caused by a past discord with Howl—to put a curse on the maiden, turning her into an old woman.

In an endeavor to return to normal, Sophie must accompany Howl and a myriad of eccentric companions—ranging from a powerful fire demon to a hopping scarecrow—in his living castle, on a dangerous adventure as a raging war tears their kingdom apart.

[Written by MAL Rewrite]

My Opinon

Let me first start off with saying studio ghibli has the most beautiful and fantastic music made for it my favourite with this movie has to be ‘Merry-go-round of life’ which is played in many parts of the film.

The film starts off with Sophie voiced by Emily mortimer working but when she leaves she runs into soldiers who won’t leave her alone only when a handsome man comes and saves her someone making the soldiers walk away (using magic obviously).

The man proceeds to take her hand, and they start to walk only for the gentlemen to tell Sophie he’s being followed, she looks kind of scared but if he had saved me I definitely would be swooning.

They are the to proceeded to be chased by black blobs and with no where to run Sophie and the man start to float and end up walking through the air for the man to drop Sophie at her destination and leaves saying ‘That’s my girl’ only did I finally realise at the end why he would say this to her and what he would mean to her.

Sophie arrives at the bakery where her sister works, and they begin to talk, her sister warns her that if the wizard she had been saved by was Howl, her heart would have been eaten, Sophie proceeds to say ‘Howl only does that to pretty girls’.

Her sister asks her if she really wants to live her life away working in hat shop, she tells her sister it’s what their father would have wanted but her sister doesn’t like the answer, I love that there is a sisterly bond between the two, but unfortunately this is the only time we see Lettie.

After leaving the bakery Sophie then heads home only to see a carriage scoop up all of the black blobs into something made me think…I wonder what’s going to happen next.

I truly think this movie supprises you more than you think it does.

When Sophie arrives back at the hat shop, someone comes into the shop un invited, a tall, stubby woman who calls herself ‘ The Witch of the waste’, unable to escape she witch ends up putting a spell on her, turning her into a old woman the witch tells her ‘you can’t tell anyone about this curse, give my regards to howl’ this confirms that the wizard she met was Howl.

After seeing her reflection in the mirror ,she begins to freak out but what I love about this situation she doesen’t start to cry, she sets out on a journey to find the one person that can help her ‘Howl’

I think if I was Sophie I would’nt have been able to cope.

Setting off to the waste in the search for the moving house Howl lives in, she finds a piece of wood she can use for a cane only to find out it was a scarecrow, she then tells the scarecrow that his head was a turnip and that she hated them ever since she was little this definitely made me chuckle.

She continues her journey only that the scarecrow begins to follow her, finds her something to help her walk only for Sophie to ask ‘find me somewhere warm to stay’ only for the scarecrow to bring her the movie house she was already looking for.

You can definatly see why the movie is called ‘Howl’s moving castle’. Sophie thanks the scarecrow and decides to call him ‘Turnip head’

Searching for warmth, she sits in front of the fire only for the fire to start talking to her, noticing the curse that was put on her, Sophie still isn’t afraid of what’s she’s seeing and it really does make me see a strong independent woman in her and I really start to admire her.

The Fireplace calls himself ‘Calcifer’ voiced by Billy Crystal and says to Sophie if you break my his keeping him in this castle I’ll break the curse on you, sophie agrees on it and then falls asleep.

The next morning, someone knocks on the door and a little boy comes running down the stairs to open it, noticing Sophie he asks who she is, and she tells him ‘Calcifer allowed me to come in’, he starts to protest.

Watching the little boy do a couple of things, her attention turn to the door where she finds out its magical and can open up in many different places, the boy then begins to make breakfast, she asks him if he wants breakfast, but he tells her no one can use Calcifer but howl “I’m a strong and all powerful fire demon I am not a stove’ she then blackmails and tells him if he’d like howl to hear about the deal they had struck the night before and Calficer complies.

Supprised that Sophie got him to co-operate, the boys sits down for breakfast when Howl arrives, he is also surprised that Calcifer was doing what she was telling him to do, unable to tell howl anything Sophie tells him she is ‘Grandma Sophie’ and that she was her new cleaning lady.

Now by now I’ve seen some wonderful animation especially for the 2000’s.

Howl making breakfast

I absolutely love the aesthetic Howl’s moving castle brings to the table I’ve watched My neighbour Totaro and Kiki’s delivery service but this was a definite step up for Studio Ghibli.

From this moment on there isn’t much that goes on, Sophie begins to clean, as she cleans out the fireplace, its funny for Calfier to almost go out, I love the humour in this movie as some of it is very gentle and there are times when you think, what’s going to happen next!

After an outing to get food Howl runs out of the bathroom screaming at Sophie has his hair is now orange and not blonde, I couldnt stop laughing at this! He proceeds to have a temper tantram and his magic goes out of control and he starts turning into goo

Sophie yells at him “Ive never been pretty in my whole life” and runs out into the waste crying, this is where we really see everything pilling on top of her and it makes us sad that shes sad because of how positive she has been over the course of the film so far.

after all the fuss shes back to her old self as she helps howl into the bath and gets him into bed.

Somehow during the course of the movie, Sophie ends up falling in love with howl and it definitely shows over the rest of the movie.

Things change from the slow story pace when Sophie is told to visit the king instead of howl where she meets the witch of the waste, now we havent seen her since the beginning of the movie and it makes you wonder why the witch of the waste cursed sophie in the first place?

Howl tells Sophie he would follow her to make sure she was okay when visiting the king, what makes me laugh is the contest of Sophie and the witch of the waste trying to get up the palace stairs, the witch ends up as a small stumpy person and I can’t stop laughing as It feels like me when climbing the stairs at home.

Sophie asks the witch to take the spell off her, but the witch simply replies that she is okay with casting spells than dispelling them. A dog appeared beside Sophie and Sophie thinks its Howl in disguise.

From now on, the movie gets a bit more intense when Sophie meets the wizard ‘Suliman’ an aid to the king only to find out the dog was Suliman’s and wasnt Howl at all. We learn about how Howl’s heart was taken by a demon and we realise who Calcifer really is!

Suliman takes the witch of the wastes magic as she spouts nonsense about the kingdom, the king arrives only to find out its howl in disguise as the king starts to contradict Suliman’s words, and we watch as Sophie defends Howl, she turns into her old self as she gains confidence in her words.

Suliman starts to attack and they manage to escape, and ends up crashing a aircraft into the moving castle, from here we finally see sophie’s love for Howl grow stronger as she finds him in his.

As much as I’m rambeling on about this movie specifics, it truly is and we see that their love for each other breaks both of their curses!

before I wrap things up, I want to talk about when sophie and howl met, this scene always got me until you watch the ending where Sophie sees Howl’s past and how him and Calfier were interwined and sophie tells young howl to find her in the future.

everything makes perfect sense when you look at the main parts all in one. Love does make you stronger and that’s what makes this movie my faviroute out of all the rest

I give this movie a 10/10

Akira

Hello, my beautiful weebs!

So just last week Akira Remastered showed in the UK Cinema’s and did I go and watch it? Of course, I did!

This was my first time seeing the film and I am so glad I waited as seeing it on the big screen was so much better than watching it on my laptop would have been.

So a further ado, Let’s get on with the review!

Synopsis

Japan, 1988. An explosion caused by a young boy with psychic powers tears through the city of Tokyo and ignites the fuse that leads to World War III. In order to prevent any further destruction, he is captured and taken into custody, never to be heard from again. Now, in the year 2019, a restored version of the city known as Neo-Tokyo—an area rife with gang violence and terrorism against the current government—stands in its place. Here, Shoutarou Kaneda leads “the Capsules,” a group of misfits known for riding large, custom motorcycles and being in constant conflict with their rivals “the Clowns.” During one of these battles, Shoutarou’s best friend Tetsuo Shima is caught up in an accident with an esper who finds himself in the streets of Tokyo after escaping confinement from a government institution. Through this encounter, Tetsuo begins to develop his own mysterious abilities, as the government seeks to quarantine this latest psychic in a desperate attempt to prevent him from unleashing the destructive power that could once again bring the city to its knees. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Music

Akira’s music soundtrack reminded so much of Ghost in the shell’s movie soundtrack 7 years later, to my mind there were so many similarities that I could not stop looking at the screen.

To me what makes up half of a good anime is its soundtrack, Akira’s soundtrack was produced by Geinoh Yamashirogumi.

Just from going through the soundtrack as I’m writing this (it gets me in the mindset to write the review 😉) a lot of these songs were used in the movie to give suspense, there were a lot of silent moments in the movie and the movie made up for these silent parts even with a loud bang to start it.

I guess my favourites must be “Kaneda” and “Battle against clown”.

My Review

Unfortunately in all that was going on with this movie I felt like everything was mixed matched and half the time I didn’t really know what was happening, but according to the guys I went with I went toilet at the wrong time.

It was really to the end of the movie that I understood what was happening but even then I was totally confused and that’s why I can’t say that I can fully review this movie as a whole.

But what I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed the art for this late 80’s anime and it truly blew it out of the park for me, especially with it adapted into 4K, going through the trailer once more everything is so much clearer than when I watch Ghost in the Shell 1995 for the millionth time.

There were many scenes that also knocked this anime out of the park for as I loved the hallucination scene in Tetsuo’s hospital room, an unrelated subject I watched a tv show years ago that had a killer person going round an in a bunny suit so when I saw the giant teddy bear I kind of freaked a little but what made this scene was the music they chose to put with it made it one of the best scenes throughout the film!

When the teddy bear started to ooze and all of a sudden a nasty looking thing was on its hand I defiantly shut my eyes (as you can gather I’m a total baby when it comes to the scary stuff haha)

Another great scene from this movie had to be Tetsuo’s mutation scene, what made this truly amazing was the fact the whole time Tetsuo grew larger he started to come back to his senses even though through the last half of the film he had become the bad guy, and had even killed people, but when it came down to killing the girl he liked he began to suffer even after he had swallowed Kaneda also.

In all seriousness, there were some scene’s that made me giggle especially when Kaneda was trying to hit on the girl who obviously had no feelings for him, he almost reminded me of Finral from Black Clover.

To say that I’m honestly and truly a dubbed anime fan I couldn’t fault anything with the Japanese this time around, and to be very honest I just watched a few minutes of the dub just to give myself some context and I can say I will only watch this film in Japanese whereas when it comes to Ghost in the shell Mimi woods does a fabulous job on taking on Motoko Kusanagi I feel that Akira 1988’s voice actors did a superb job!

For those who haven’t watched this cinematic masterpiece yet go and do so! You will not regret it
